Supervision (Relate Therapist Berkshire)

(Relevant to other professional therapists seeking a supervisor to work with in reviewing their client caseload).

As a highly skilled supervisor with over 15 years experience in the field, I strive to create a space where you can flourish; a space where you experience supervision as a fascinating, creative and inspirational activity. Collaboration lies at the root of my process and I ensure that we consider your casework together, side by side. I firmly believe that this approach presents greater opportunities for your personal development than the hierarchical supervision model of old.

My open, non-judgemental and incisive manner of supervision ensures that you will feel just as comfortable addressing themes and patterns which may be emerging in and influencing your work, as you will when we discuss the best course of action in such circumstances. Should you wish to develop your skills further, I offer a respectful and sensitive approach when it comes to challenging your way of thinking.

My extensive training includes a Supervision Diploma in IAPT couple therapy for depression and a broad knowledge of models that include CBT and child focussed therapy. I would welcome the opportunity to share these skills and experiences in order to enhance your own work as a Practitioner.

Ethical Practice
I have been supervising relationship counsellors since 2011 both within my agency and in private practice. I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist and have recently applied for Senior Accreditation status.

I am committed to working within the BACP Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions (2016). Section 51 of which states that; “Good supervision is much more than case management. It includes working in-depth on the relationship between practitioner and client in order to work towards desired outcomes and positive effects”. To this end I believe that there are key conditions necessary if the supervisory relationship is to be valuable and effective: transparency, reflexivity and collaboration. If these conditions are in place then supervision can provide an opportunity for counsellors and psychotherapists to develop their practice skills and abilities and ensure the well being of their clients.

Logistics
My supervision is mainly Skype/Zoom based but I also meet supervisees on a one-to-one basis and offer flexibility around appointment times. I charge £75 per ninety-minute supervision and generally work with counsellors once each calendar month while they are seeing clients.

If you would like to discuss my model of supervision, have questions or simply feel that a conversation may be useful please contact me by email (claireearl.counselling@gmail.com).
